{"id":1351,"date":"2025-11-23T08:40:14","date_gmt":"2025-11-23T08:40:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=1351"},"modified":"2025-11-23T08:40:14","modified_gmt":"2025-11-23T08:40:14","slug":"carlos-alcaraz-and-jannik-sinner-friends-theory-being-pushed-way-harder-than-reality","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=1351","title":{"rendered":"Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner \u2018friends\u2019 theory being \u2018pushed way harder than reality\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former ATP Tour star Jack Sock has questioned how close Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are off the court, suggesting that the narrative of their friendship was \u201cbeing pushed way harder than reality.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>World No 1 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/carlos-alcaraz\">Alcaraz<\/a> and world No 2<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/jannik-sinner\"> Sinner<\/a> have dominated the ATP Tour across the past two seasons, with the two splitting the last eight Grand Slam men\u2019s singles titles between them.<\/p>\n<p>2025 saw Alcaraz seal the year-end No 1 ranking and claim a staggering eight titles, including victories at the French Open and US Open, while Sinner won six titles \u2014 including Australian Open and Wimbledon triumphs.<\/p>\n<p>The pair met in six finals across 2025, including three straight Grand Slam finals in Paris, SW19, and New York, alongside the ATP Finals.<\/p>\n<p>Alcaraz and Sinner appear to be comfortably clear of their fellow ATP colleagues, and, despite the significance of the matches they often play, their relationship is known to be hugely respectful.<\/p>\n<p>The Spaniard and Italian are hugely complimentary of each other during presentation ceremonies and off the court, with many hailing the perceived friendship between the two.<\/p>\n<p>However, former world No 8 and three-time doubles Grand Slam champion <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/jack-sock\">Sock<\/a> has now suggested some have pushed the narrative of a friendship between the two too far.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on <a rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCce3D2-VJRAZI8Mbwq9uHqQ\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Nothing Major<\/em><\/a> this week, the American suggested that Alcaraz and Sinner were unlikely to be as \u201cclose\u201d as many suggest.<\/p>\n<h2>Tennis News<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/jimmy-connors-reveals-why-carlos-alcaraz-jannik-sinner-could-keep-dominating\">Jimmy Connors reveals why Carlos Alcaraz &amp; Jannik Sinner could \u2018keep dominating\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/facts-stats\/prize-money-iga-swiatek-earned-2025-compared-previous-seasons\">How much prize money Iga Swiatek earned in 2025 compared to her previous seasons<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think Carlos would be more open to it [a friendship], based on personality. I think Jannik seems very closed off to his bubble and to his people,\u201d said Sock.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think tennis fans in general obviously loved the Roger [Federer], Rafa [Nadal] narrative and everything, and they are good friends, and I think because they\u2019re retired now and not around, people want that so much that they\u2019re pushing this.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery tournament, I feel like every week now, you go on Twitter and it\u2019s like: \u2018Oh, Carlos and Jannik, look at this interaction they had as they\u2019re passing by on the practice court.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust because you dap somebody up and smile doesn\u2019t mean you guys are like really close friends.
