{"id":1352,"date":"2025-11-23T11:30:54","date_gmt":"2025-11-23T11:30:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=1352"},"modified":"2025-11-23T11:30:54","modified_gmt":"2025-11-23T11:30:54","slug":"jannik-sinners-fitness-coach-thanks-star-for-the-trust-after-return-following-doping-saga","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=1352","title":{"rendered":"Jannik Sinner\u2019s fitness coach thanks star \u2018for the trust\u2019 after return following doping saga"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Umberto Ferrara, the fitness trainer at the centre of Jannik Sinner\u2019s doping controversy, has thanked the world No 2 for his \u201ctrust\u201d in a social media message following his return to the Italian\u2019s team.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/jannik-sinner\">Sinner\u2019s<\/a> 2025 season concluded with the 24-year-old winning his sixth title of 2025 at the ATP Finals in Turin, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/carlos-alcaraz-jannik-sinner-prize-money-atpfinals\">beating Carlos Alcaraz in the final to successfully defend his crown<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The world No 2 reached the final of all four Grand Slam tournaments in 2025, triumphing at the Australian Open and Wimbledon, and also lifted trophies in Beijing, Vienna, and at the Paris Indoors.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the Italian\u2019s success, his season was marred <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/news\/jannik-sinner-banned-from-tennis\">by a three-month ban he served earlier in the year<\/a>, with the 24-year-old settling his longstanding doping case with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).<\/p>\n<p>Sinner initially tested positive twice for the banned steroid clostebol in March 2024, with the International Tennis Integrity Agency\u2019s (ITIA) initial investigation holding Ferrara largely responsible.<\/p>\n<p>The ITIA accepted Sinner\u2019s explanation that he had been contaminated after Ferrara gave physiotherapist Giacomo Naldi a spray containing clostebol to treat a cut on his hand, before Naldi then treated Sinner without the use of gloves.<\/p>\n<p>After the investigation was made public in August 2024,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/jannik-sinner-doping-scandal-changes-team\"> Sinner announced an immediate split from both Ferrara and Naldi<\/a>, and was later suspended from February \u2013 May 2025 after WADA\u2019s initial appeal regarding the ITIA\u2019s \u2018no fault or negligence\u2019 verdict in his case.<\/p>\n<p>However, after splitting with replacements Marco Panichi and Ulises Badio in June 2025, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/jannik-sinner-addresses-rehiring-team-member-trainer-umberto-ferrara\">the four-time Grand Slam champion decided to bring Ferrara back into his team<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Tennis News<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/carlos-alcaraz-jannik-sinner-friends-theory-being-pushed-way-harder-than-reality\">Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner \u2018friends\u2019 theory being \u2018pushed way harder than reality\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/jimmy-connors-reveals-why-carlos-alcaraz-jannik-sinner-could-keep-dominating\">Jimmy Connors reveals why Carlos Alcaraz &amp; Jannik Sinner could \u2018keep dominating\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The decision <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/jannik-sinner-u-turn-one-of-most-astonishing-pr-moves-tennis-history-nick-kyrgios-paul-mcnamee\">attracted questioning and criticism from some quarters<\/a>, with Sinner refusing to comment too much further after an initial public statement.<\/p>\n<p>Sinner ended the season strongly with consecutive titles at the Vienna Open, Paris Masters, and ATP Finals, also winning the China Open in September.<\/p>\n<p>Ferrera was present for the world No 2\u2019s post-title celebrations in Turin and, taking to Instagram, posted a message in which he reflected on his 2025 \u2014 and thanked Sinner.<\/p>\n<p>He wrote (translated from Italian): \u201cI\u2019ve been in sports for many years but I\u2019ll never stop being amazed at how beautiful it is.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSport is commitment, dedication, sacrifice; it\u2019s emotion, smiles, tears; it\u2019s victory and defeat, joy and disappointment; it\u2019s comparison with oneself and others; it\u2019s a desire to improve, analytical skills, confidence in work; it\u2019s suffering in the dark moments that leave you inside a pain that is hard to digest, but it is also believing in the possibility of getting up and starting again with enthusiasm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s hard to condense it all into one post.
