{"id":1384,"date":"2025-11-30T15:00:24","date_gmt":"2025-11-30T15:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=1384"},"modified":"2025-11-30T15:00:24","modified_gmt":"2025-11-30T15:00:24","slug":"novak-djokovic-speaks-out-about-reconstructing-his-body-for-2026-after-injury-woes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=1384","title":{"rendered":"Novak Djokovic speaks out about \u2018reconstructing\u2019 his body for 2026 after injury woes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Novak Djokovic has revealed he is trying to \u201crebuild\u201d his body as he set his sights on making a strong start to the 2026 season and keeping pace with \u201cthe best guys.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 24-time Grand Slam champion, who is 38, has dealt with an increasing number of injuries and physical ailments since midway through the 2024 campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Despite this, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/novak-djokovic\">Djokovic<\/a> will finish 2025 as the world No 4 after amassing an impressive 39-11 record from a limited schedule of 13 tournaments this year.<\/p>\n<h2>Novak Djokovic discusses rebuilding his body ahead of 2026<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Novak Djokovic has revealed he is currently taking a break to \u201creconstruct\u201d and \u201crebuild\u201d his body ahead of the 2026 season<\/li>\n<li>The tennis legend expressed his hope that this will allow him to make a \u201cgreat\u201d start to the new year as he aims to \u201ckeep it up with the best guys\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Djokovic reflected that he has been \u201cgetting injured more often than not in the last 18 months\u201d and explained he is using his recovery pod to help reset his \u201cbatteries\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This season, Djokovic reached the semi-finals at all four Grand Slams, won ATP 250 titles in Geneva and Athens and was a runner-up at the Miami Open.<\/p>\n<p>The world No 4 qualified for the ATP Finals in Turin, but withdrew citing a shoulder injury after his triumph in Athens.<\/p>\n<h2>Novak Djokovic\u2019s physical struggles in 2025<\/h2>\n<p>Djokovic\u2019s body breaking down in the latter stages of tournaments was a common theme this year \u2014 particularly at the majors.<\/p>\n<p>The Serbian was forced to retire after the first set of his 2025 Australian Open semi-final with Alexander Zverev due to a hamstring tear he suffered in his quarter-final win over Carlos Alcaraz.<\/p>\n<p>The former world No 1 was hampered during his straight-set Wimbledon semi-final defeat to Jannik Sinner after a nasty fall on match point of his quarter-final win over Flavio Cobolli.<\/p>\n<p>At the US Open, Djokovic looked physically spent after two sets of his straight-set semi-final loss to Alcaraz having looked short of fitness during his run in New York.<\/p>\n<p>Djokovic also dealt with physical issues in his Miami Open final loss to Jakub Mensik and throughout his campaign at the Shanghai Masters, where he fell in the semi-finals to Valentin Vacherot.<\/p>\n<h2>Tennis News<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/2025-atp-win-rate-top-10-carlos-alcaraz-jannik-sinner-novak-djokovic\"><strong>What win rate did Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic &amp;
