{"id":1413,"date":"2025-12-06T17:33:02","date_gmt":"2025-12-06T17:33:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=1413"},"modified":"2025-12-06T17:33:02","modified_gmt":"2025-12-06T17:33:02","slug":"patrick-mouratoglou-reveals-what-emma-raducanus-challenge-has-been-despite-big-potential","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=1413","title":{"rendered":"Patrick Mouratoglou reveals what Emma Raducanu\u2019s \u2018challenge\u2019 has been, despite \u2018big potential\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Patrick Mouratoglou says that Emma Raducanu\u2019s \u2018challenge\u2019 has been finding a long-term coach whom she can \u2018trust\u2019, but believes she has \u2018big potential.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The Brit has had an inconsistent coaching team since she won her maiden Grand Slam at the 2021 US Open.<\/p>\n<p>Most recently, she split with Nick Cavaday in January and \u2013 soon after \u2013 added Andy Murray\u2019s former coach, and long-time tennis commentator, Mark Petchey to her team.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, after a successful trial period, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/emma-raducanu\">Raducanu<\/a> also appointed Francisco Roig as her head coach in July, with the pair mutually agreeing to continue into next season.<\/p>\n<p>Roig had been part of Rafael Nadal\u2019s team for nearly 20 years, a period in which he claimed 22 Grand Slam titles and broke countless other records.<\/p>\n<p>Mouratoglou, who is a former coach of Serena Williams, Holger Rune, and Naomi Osaka, has backed the Brit\u2019s 2026 prospects, but notes that her inconsistent team has been a \u2018challenge.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think her potential is very big,\u201d the renowned coach stated during an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.itv.com\/watch\/news\/ultimate-tennis-showdown-founder-patrick-mouratoglou-returns-to-london-to-turn-up-the-tennis-tempo\/m9ck8dr\">interview with ITV<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean, she\u2019s won a Grand Slam, but after that, it was very difficult for her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think [she had had] way too many coaches working with her. I think if you look at all the very successful tennis players, you need to follow a path for a few years to build yourself through a project.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhenever you change coaches, you change your project. If you change your project every six months, it\u2019s too difficult.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, for her, the big challenge is to trust someone for a period that is long enough, so she can really build something solid in her game for the future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf she\u2019s able to do this, she\u2019s a great player.
