{"id":1674,"date":"2026-01-27T14:45:50","date_gmt":"2026-01-27T14:45:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=1674"},"modified":"2026-01-27T14:45:50","modified_gmt":"2026-01-27T14:45:50","slug":"coco-gauff-speaks-out-about-racket-smash-and-her-serve-after-brutal-australian-open-loss","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=1674","title":{"rendered":"Coco Gauff speaks out about racket smash and her serve after brutal Australian Open loss"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Coco Gauff has questioned the lack of privacy for players at the Australian Open after smashing her racket in frustration following her heavy loss to Elina Svitolina.<\/p>\n<p>An out of sorts Gauff lost 1-6, 2-6 to Svitolina in just 59 minutes in the\u00a0quarter-finals at Melbourne Park on Rod Laver Arena on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Following the match, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/australian-open\">Australian Open<\/a>\u2018s behind the scenes cameras <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/tntsports\/status\/2016078126741151958\" target=\"_blank\">picked up Gauff smashing her racket in the corridor<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In her post-match press conference, Gauff explained that she would prefer to release her frustration in the way she did instead of directing it at her team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think for me, I know myself, and I don\u2019t want to lash out on my team,\u201d said the world No 3.\u00a0\u201cThey\u2019re good people. They don\u2019t deserve that, and I know I\u2019m emotional.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo I just took the minute to go and do that. I don\u2019t think it\u2019s a bad thing. I don\u2019t try to do it on court in front of kids and things like that, but I do know I need to let out that emotion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOtherwise, I\u2019m just going to be snappy with the people around me, and I don\u2019t want to do that because they don\u2019t deserve it. They did their best. I did mine. I feel like that moment was definitely a game I would usually throw in some doubles. So there are positives to take.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIs my serve where I want it to be? No. I definitely served well in some matches, but I feel like today it\u2019s one of those shots that I would like to be the shot to get me out of trouble.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I definitely can look back at this tournament and say that it has improved. I hope that the trend can continue upward.
