Carlos Alcaraz has given an update on his brother Alvaro\u2019s role in his team as he revealed plans to travel to some tournaments without his coach Samuel Lopez.<\/p>\n
In his first tournament since splitting with long-time former coach Juan Carlos Ferrero, Alcaraz<\/a> secured his seventh Grand Slam title at the 2026 Australian Open.<\/p>\n Following Ferrero\u2019s departure, Lopez stepped into the role of Alcaraz\u2019s head coach, having previously worked alongside Ferrero.<\/p>\n Alcaraz\u2019s older brother, Alvaro, is another important presence in the world No 1\u2019s team and serves as a hitting partner.<\/p>\n During the Australian Open, Alcaraz confirmed that Alvaro would also be involved in a coaching capacity.<\/p>\n \u201cMy brother is a very important person in my personal and professional life,\u201d the 22-year-old told the Spanish media.<\/p>\n \u201cHe brings me many positive things that I need to perform better on court and in tournaments. Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list<\/a> for tennis coverage you can trust.<\/strong><\/p>\n In an interview with Marca<\/em>, Alcaraz explained that his brother will be his lone coaching presence at events Lopez does not attend.<\/p>\n \u201cWe still don\u2019t know which tournaments he\u2019ll be at or which ones he\u2019ll travel to alone without Samuel,\u201d Alcaraz divulged.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat is clear is that Samu will travel 80 per cent of the time, or even more.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019ll be at the most important ones, and for some, my brother will travel alone. I don\u2019t know which ones, because everything can change, and as someone once told me, \u2018plans are made to be changed\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n The Spaniard was also asked if he was particularly happy to win the Australian Open for Lopez.<\/p>\n \u201cThe truth is, I know what Samuel is capable of,\u201d said the 25-time ATP Tour titlist.<\/p>\n \u201cI know how long he\u2019s been working, chipping away at it, as we say, his whole life.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s a very good tennis teacher, and when I hear him talk with my father about what they shared when they both played, you can see they\u2019re both passionate about tennis.<\/p>\n \u201cYou can tell the great emotion and passion they feel for the sport.
