{"id":181,"date":"2025-03-20T09:43:42","date_gmt":"2025-03-20T09:43:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=181"},"modified":"2025-03-20T09:43:42","modified_gmt":"2025-03-20T09:43:42","slug":"iga-swiatek-warned-of-disturbed-relationship-with-long-time-team-member","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=181","title":{"rendered":"Iga Swiatek warned of \u2018disturbed relationship\u2019 with long-time team member"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Iga Swiatek has been warned that her relationship with psychologist Daria Abramowicz is \u201cdisturbed\u201d and that the \u201cprofessional distance\u201d between the two has been crossed.<\/p>\n<p>World No 2 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/iga-swiatek\">Swiatek<\/a> and 37-year-old Abramowicz began working together in February 2019, when the tennis star was just 17 years old.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, Swiatek has gone on to become arguably the leading player of her generation, winning five Grand Slam singles titles and spending 125 weeks as the world No 1.<\/p>\n<p>The Pole\u2019s partnership with Abramowicz has long been praised as a key factor in the 23-year-old\u2019s success, though their relationship has been under scrutiny in recent days.<\/p>\n<p>Swiatek was widely criticised for appearing to slam a ball towards her team \u2013 close to a ball boy \u2013 during her Indian Wells semi-final loss to Mirra Andreeva.<\/p>\n<p>The world No 2 has since spoken about the incident in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/iga-swiatek-deeply-upset-confession-no-1-ranking-heartfelt-post-robot-immature\">a detailed social media post<\/a>, though Abramowicz herself has also faced criticism.<\/p>\n<p>The 37-year-old was seen shouting from the stands during the semi-final, and now leading Polish sports psychologist Dariusz Nowicki has claimed \u201ccertain boundaries\u201d between Abramowicz and Swiatek had been crossed.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <a rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/sport.interia.pl\/iga-swiatek\/news-otwarcie-o-relacji-igi-swiatek-z-daria-abramowicz-dariusz-no,nId,7933049\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Interia Sport<\/em><\/a>, Nowicki was damning in his assessment of the \u201cdisturbed\u201d partnership.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf we were to look at this relationship only and exclusively from the point of view of strictly psychological workshop, then it is indeed a disturbed relationship, in which certain boundaries of professional distance between the psychologist and the client are crossed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Asked further about the potential risks, Nowicki warned that Abramowicz could be at risk of \u201cerrors of perception\u201d in her judgement due to a lack of distance between her and Swiatek.<\/p>\n<p>Nowicki added: \u201cUnfortunately, most errors in perception occur when emotions are aroused.
