{"id":1830,"date":"2026-03-05T10:46:50","date_gmt":"2026-03-05T10:46:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=1830"},"modified":"2026-03-05T10:46:50","modified_gmt":"2026-03-05T10:46:50","slug":"juan-carlos-ferrero-calls-for-carlos-alcaraz-meeting-after-separating-himself-from-world-no-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=1830","title":{"rendered":"Juan Carlos Ferrero calls for Carlos Alcaraz meeting after \u2018separating himself\u2019 from world No 1\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Juan Carlos Ferrero has revealed why he unfollowed Carlos Alcaraz on social media following the pair\u2019s split and expressed his wish to have a conversation with the world No 1.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/carlos-alcaraz\">Alcaraz<\/a> and Ferrero parted ways during the off-season in December, bringing an end to a high-profile and hugely successful player-coach relationship that began in 2018, when Alcaraz was 16.<\/p>\n<p>The Spanish star won 24 ATP Tour singles titles, including six Grand Slams, while working with Ferrero \u2014 who is a former world No 1 and French Open champion.<\/p>\n<p>Since splitting with Ferrero, Alcaraz has amassed a 12-0 record by winning the Australian Open and Qatar Open in a sensational start to 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Samuel Lopez, who coaches at Ferrero\u2019s academy, is now Alcaraz\u2019s head coach, having previously worked in tandem with Ferrero.<\/p>\n<p>Days after Alcaraz completed the career Grand Slam by claiming his maiden Australian Open title, fans noticed that Ferrero had unfollowed his former prot\u00e9g\u00e9 on Instagram. In the end, I haven\u2019t achieved anything. You follow tennis accounts and tournament accounts, and it\u2019s the same.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t do it out of spite. I want to see him and give him a hug. To normalise everything that\u2019s happened, I think we still need to have a conversation. I\u2019d like that.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Alcaraz speaks about playing Indian Wells without Ferrero as his coach<\/h2>\n<p>Speaking to Eurosport, Alcaraz addressed being without Ferrero at the 2026 Indian Wells Masters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would say it is what it is,\u201d said the world No 1.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously, I wouldn\u2019t say it\u2019s a new team. It\u2019s mostly the same members; we just restructured a little bit. The members are the same as before; we\u2019re just missing one.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery time I come back to a tournament I played last year, it feels a little bit different.
