{"id":1852,"date":"2026-03-09T11:15:46","date_gmt":"2026-03-09T11:15:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=1852"},"modified":"2026-03-09T11:15:46","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T11:15:46","slug":"miami-open-withdrawal-list-6-players-out-will-coco-gauff-play-after-indian-wells-retirement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=1852","title":{"rendered":"Miami Open withdrawal list: 6 players out, will Coco Gauff play after Indian Wells retirement?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While the Indian Wells Open is ongoing, six players have already pulled out of the Miami Open, while there is uncertainty over the participation of Coco Gauff.<\/p>\n<p>The Miami Open is the second leg of the US Sunshine Double in March following Indian Wells, and three players have withdrawn from both the men\u2019s and women\u2019s singles events in Florida.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-features\/indian-wells-2026-withdrawal-list-grand-slam-winner-dubai-medvedev-rublev-khachanov\">There were 17 players who pulled out across both singles events in Indian Wells before the draws were made<\/a>, while a further two players withdrew before their opening matches.<\/p>\n<p>Main draw action at the 2026 Miami Open, which will be the 41st edition of the event, will take place from 17-29 March after the conclusion of the Indian Wells Open on 15 March.<\/p>\n<p>The combined ATP\/WTA 1000 tournament in Miami has been held on outdoor hard courts at the Hard Rock Stadium since 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Both the men\u2019s and women\u2019s singles draws at the Miami Open feature 96 players, including 32 seeds \u2014 who each receive an opening round bye.<\/p>\n<h2>WTA Miami Open withdrawal list<\/h2>\n<p>World No 37 Lois Boisson is the highest-ranked player who was on the original Miami Open women\u2019s singles entry list to withdraw from the event.<\/p>\n<p>The 22-year-old Frenchwoman also missed the Indian Wells Open, and she has not competed since September due to injury. Add us as <a rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/preferences\/source?q=tennis365.com\" target=\"_blank\">a preferred source on Google to your favourites list<\/a> for tennis coverage you can trust.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Will Coco Gauff play?<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/coco-gauff\">Coco Gauff<\/a> remains signed up to play in Miami, but there is some uncertainty over her presence at the event after she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/indian-wells-open-what-coco-gauff-said-alex-eala-match-whole-arm-on-fire\">retired in her Indian Wells third round match against Alex Eala due to an arm injury<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The world No 4 was unable to continue when trailing 2-6, 0-2 against Eala and revealed afterwards that the \u201cnerve-related\u201d issue in her arm was a \u201cscary feeling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI guess a simple way to put it, it felt like a firework was going off inside of my arm, and then my whole arm felt like it was on fire,\u201d the 21-year-old American told reporters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re going to figure out what it is tomorrow, but based off the feeling, being told that it\u2019s probably something nerve-related. Never had anything like this before, never felt anything, a sensation like this before.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd then as the match played, it got progressively worse, even when I wasn\u2019t using my arm on shots that I wasn\u2019t even using my left arm for.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was feeling like fireworks at times. Yeah, it was a scary feeling, but yeah, I don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The two-time Grand Slam champion confirmed that she would have an MRI scan and declared she \u201cshould be fine\u201d for the Miami Open.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re going tomorrow to get an MRI and to see what\u2019s going on,\u201d Gauff said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGood news is they don\u2019t think it\u2019s going to be like a long-term type of situation, so I should be fine for Miami.
