Boris Becker has reacted to two controversies involving Alexander Zverev following his fellow German\u2019s triumph at the 2026 French Open.<\/p>\n

What did he (Zverev) do ?\u201d<\/p>\n It then emerged that Zverev had cut short an interview with L\u2019Equipe after his French Open win when he was asked about the allegations of domestic abuse made against him.<\/p>\n During the 2024 French Open, Zverev\u2019s lawyers reached an out of court settlement in a domestic violence trial brought to a Berlin court after accusations made by Brenda Patea, his ex-girlfriend and the mother of his child.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cThe decision is not a verdict and it is not a decision about guilt or innocence,\u201d a Tiergarten District Court spokesperson told The Athletic<\/em>. \u201cOne decisive factor for the court decision was that the witness has expressed her wish to end the trial. The defendant agreed to the termination of the case.\u201d<\/p>\n This came after Zverev faced allegations of domestic abuse from his former girlfriend Olga Sharypova in 2020.<\/p>\n Sharypova did not pursue charges against Zverev, and a 15-month investigation by the ATP Tour determined there was \u201cinsufficient evidence\u201d to substantiate the allegations.<\/a><\/p>\n Zverev has repeatedly denied all allegations made against him.<\/p>\n L\u2019Equipe<\/a> shared the following transcript of the exchange during Zverev\u2019s interview.<\/p>\n Interviewer:<\/strong> In recent days, particularly in the press room, there has been a lot of discussion about how to handle your potential victory, given the domestic violence allegations against you several years ago\u2026<\/p>\n Zverev:<\/strong> Hold on, first of all, this isn\u2019t that kind of interview. Secondly, you know that the accusations have been proven false?<\/p>\n Interviewer: <\/strong>The question isn\u2019t directly about the accusations.<\/p>\n Zverev: <\/strong>This is the second time you\u2019ve asked me about them.<\/p>\n Interviewer: <\/strong>The question is: do you find it unfair that the media continues to talk about them?<\/p>\n Zverev\u2019s\u00a0agent<\/strong>: It\u2019s a question about the accusations.<\/p>\n Interviewer: <\/strong>L\u2019Equipe, for example, didn\u2019t put you on its front page, hence the question.<\/p>\n Zverev: <\/strong>That wasn\u2019t my decision. I did everything I could, and my innocence has been proven.<\/p>\n Interviewer: <\/strong>What are your plans for the next few weeks?<\/p>\n Zverev: <\/strong>(sighs) I don\u2019t know.
