{"id":2324,"date":"2026-06-12T14:28:52","date_gmt":"2026-06-12T14:28:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=2324"},"modified":"2026-06-12T14:28:52","modified_gmt":"2026-06-12T14:28:52","slug":"emma-raducanu-really-pleased-as-she-gets-revenge-with-impressive-queens-club-win","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=2324","title":{"rendered":"Emma Raducanu \u2018really pleased\u2019 as she gets revenge with impressive Queen\u2019s Club win"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Emma Raducanu has reacted after she delivered an impressive performance to beat Sorana Cirstea in straight sets at the 2026 Queen\u2019s Club Championships.<\/p>\n<p>World No 42 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/emma-raducanu\">Raducanu<\/a> downed 18th-ranked Cirstea 6-4, 6-2 in the second round at the grass-court WTA 500 tournament in London.<\/p>\n<p>The British No 1 is through to the quarter-finals at Queen\u2019s Club for the second straight year, and she will face world No 78 Kamilla Rakhimova later today.<\/p>\n<p>Raducanu raced into a 4-0 lead before holding off a fightback from Cirstea to seal the opening set.<\/p>\n<p>The 23-year-old then broke twice as she dominated the second set to seal a convincing win against an in-form opponent.<\/p>\n<p>With Raducanu leading 4-0 in the first set, Annabel Croft \u2014 who was commentating on the match for BBC \u2014 said that the Brit was under Cirstea\u2019s skin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, she (Cirstea) looks pretty dejected right now,\u201d said the former British No 1. \u201cI feel as if Raducanu, psychologically, has got under her skin.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>WTA Tour News<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/victoria-mboko-reacts-serena-williams-sends-classy-message-queens-injury-blow\"><strong>Victoria Mboko reacts as Serena Williams sends classy message after Queen\u2019s injury blow<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/wta-tour\/wta-rankings-how-elena-rybakina-can-replace-aryna-sabalenka-no-1\"><strong>WTA Rankings: How Elena Rybakina can replace Aryna Sabalenka at No 1<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Want more from Tennis365? She\u2019s been a player who, this year, has been in incredible form, had some amazing wins, reached a really high ranking.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd earlier on in the year, she beat me, but I\u2019m really pleased that I could kind of get her back at home, as well (laughs).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 2021 US Open winner added:\u00a0\u201cI think I played a really high level. I knew that I had to playing Sorana. I had to go out there and play aggressively and dictate, because otherwise if I didn\u2019t, she would do that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd as soon as I kind of took my foot off the gas a little bit, or didn\u2019t execute in the first set, she was coming back.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut yeah, I think straight from the get-go I actually I put a really good game on the court, and I\u2019m really pleased that I\u2019m able to play another match here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After the match, Croft gave her verdict on Raducanu\u2019s performance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s taken it up a notch from her opening round,\u201d assessed the former world No 24.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought that she was going to be given a much bigger test from Cirstea, which she was, but she sort of matched it and kept on rising her own levels, and struck the ball with such authority, knew when to be patient and build the points, and knew when to step up and go for it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGreat returns of serve, as we always say.
