{"id":2365,"date":"2026-06-19T21:42:49","date_gmt":"2026-06-19T21:42:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=2365"},"modified":"2026-06-19T21:42:49","modified_gmt":"2026-06-19T21:42:49","slug":"wimbledon-withdrawal-list-13-players-out-as-holger-rune-joins-carlos-alcaraz","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=2365","title":{"rendered":"Wimbledon withdrawal list: 13 players out as Holger Rune joins Carlos Alcaraz"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The list of players to withdraw from Wimbledon 2026 continues to grow, with former world No 4 Holger Rune the latest big name absentee.<\/p>\n<p>Main draw singles play at this year\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/wimbledon\">Wimbledon Championships<\/a>, which will be the 139th edition of the oldest tennis tournament, will begin on Monday 28 June and conclude on Sunday 12 July.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-features\/wimbledon-withdrawal-list-11-players-out-carlos-alcaraz-among-absent-top-20-stars\">By Thursday, there were 11 players \u2014 six men and five women \u2014 who had withdrawn from the grass-court Grand Slam across both the men\u2019s and women\u2019s events.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Since then, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/holger-rune\">Holger Rune<\/a> and Reilly Opelka \u2014 who were on the men\u2019s main draw entry list \u2014 have pulled out. Add us as <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/preferences\/source?q=tennis365.com\" target=\"_blank\">a preferred source on Google to your favourites list<\/a> for tennis coverage you can trust.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Aneke Rune, Holger\u2019s mother and manager, explained the decision in a statement to Danish outlet Sport TV2.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter a thorough assessment, we have decided that Holger will not take part at Wimbledon this year,\u201d Aneke Rune said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoth the Achilles tendon and the knee are responding positively, and he is making steady progress on all fronts. All the scans also look good.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on his withdrawal, Rune said: \u201cIt is not an easy decision to miss Wimbledon, but the long-term goal is unchanged: to come back stronger and be ready to compete at the highest level.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m getting closer every day, and it\u2019s very satisfying to feel the progress.
