{"id":2500,"date":"2026-07-17T08:15:59","date_gmt":"2026-07-17T08:15:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=2500"},"modified":"2026-07-17T08:15:59","modified_gmt":"2026-07-17T08:15:59","slug":"novak-djokovic-carlos-alcaraz-emma-raducanus-complaints-are-finally-being-addressed-by-tennis-chiefs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=2500","title":{"rendered":"Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz Emma Raducanu\u2019s complaints are finally being addressed by tennis chiefs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Many a tennis player has complained about fluffed-up balls in the past few years and the ATP finally seems to be doing something about it as they will trial more frequent ball changes.<\/p>\n<p>With the number of wrist, elbow and shoulder injuries increasing among tennis players in recent years, many have attributed it to the balls being used with some saying it\u2019s because the balls deteriorate more quickly.<\/p>\n<p>Others, meanwhile, believe it\u2019s due to the fact that players basically have to adapt to new balls every other week as different tournaments use different balls.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, the likes of Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/daniil-medvedev-highlights-trend-causing-injuries-tennis-indian-wells\">Daniil Medvedev<\/a> and Emma Raducanu all made it clear that they are not impressed with the ball situation and called for change.<\/p>\n<p>Tennis great Djokovic questioned the quality of the balls as he stated: \u201cThat\u2019s probably the biggest difference I can notice, compared to maybe 10, 15 years ago. It\u2019s the balls.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Tennis News<\/h2>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/emma-raducanu-lifestyle-change-advice-greg-rusedski\">Emma Raducanu told she may need to change her lifestyle to sustain a career in tennis<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/carlos-alcaraz-had-complaint-about-the-cincinnati-open-in-2025-and-they-appear-to-have-listened\">Carlos Alcaraz had complaint about the Cincinnati Open in 2025 and they appear to have listened<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Alcaraz, who is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/carlos-alcaraz-injury-update-social-media-post\">currently out injured with a serious wrist injury<\/a> that he sustained at the Barcelona Open, admitted that the constant changing of balls \u201ccomplicated things\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think last year there were many injuries, many players with elbow or shoulder issues,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/carlos-alcaraz-ball-changes-tennis-injuries-rotterdam-open\">he said in an interview in February 2025<\/a>. \u201cIt needs to change. I know they will change it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery week, practically every week, we have different balls, different conditions, so it\u2019s complicated to adapt to them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As for the quality of the balls, he stated: \u201cI had good training to adapt, but it was tough. New balls, everything seems to move very fast\u2026 and after two or three exchanges, the ball becomes very big and it\u2019s a bit difficult to play aggressively with them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/emma-raducanu\">Raducanu<\/a> has also had to deal with wrist injuries in the past as she underwent surgery on both her wrists in May 2023<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI do think the balls are a big challenge for all of us,\u201d she was quoted as saying by <a rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/sport\/2025\/oct\/10\/all-fluffed-up-why-modern-balls-are-causing-frustration-and-injury-in-tennis\">The Guardian<\/a> last October. \u201cThe way that they deteriorate is really challenging. I think it gets very fluffy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou see a lot of wrist, elbow, shoulder injuries happening now.
