Mark Philippoussis declared that \u201cthe tennis world needs\u201d Carlos Alcaraz as he spoke to Tennis365 about the Spaniard\u2019s \u201ccomplicated\u201d injury.<\/p>\n
Last week, Spanish publication La Verdad reported that Alcaraz is aiming to make his long-awaited comeback at the Cincinnati Open<\/a>, which will begin on 13 August.<\/p>\n \u201cAlcaraz\u2019s team has chosen to focus all their efforts on arriving in the best possible condition for Cincinnati, a tournament that begins in mid-August,\u201d stated the report.<\/p>\n \u201cThe wrist is healthy, completely healed and they are gradually increasing the training load.\u201d<\/p>\n Alcaraz<\/a> has not played since he sustained a right wrist injury in his opening round win at the Barcelona Open over three months ago.<\/p>\n The seven-time Grand Slam champion missed the clay-court Masters 1000 events in Madrid and Rome, as well as the French Open and Wimbledon.<\/p>\n The world No 3 will not compete at the next Masters tournament on the calendar \u2014 the Canadian Open in Montreal, which will get underway on 1 August.<\/p>\n Kyle Edmund speaks out about injuries after Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, Emma Raducanu complained<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n Inside story on the tennis champion helping to save lives of young children around the world<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n Want more from Tennis365? The tennis world needs him,\u201d said the two-time Grand Slam finalist, who won 11 ATP Tour titles.<\/p>\n \u201cI love watching him, he\u2019s incredible for the game. A Grand Slam champion, he\u2019s been No 1 in the world.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd I just hope he can get healthy. Of course, he\u2019s going to be someone that\u2019s not going to rush the process.<\/p>\n \u201cBut also, when it\u2019s to do with the wrist, it\u2019s complicated. So, I\u2019m sure he\u2019s doing everything he can, and hopefully he can be back soon.\u201d<\/p>\n Speaking to Tennis365<\/a>, 1996 Wimbledon champion Richard Krajicek recently backed Alcaraz to return to his \u201cfull form\u201d after his injury.<\/p>\n \u201cIt takes a bit of time, but he\u2019s young, and I think he\u2019s got good healing power,\u201d said the former world No 4.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m not concerned that he will play, and I\u2019m not concerned that he\u2019s going to return to his full form.<\/p>\n \u201cBut it\u2019s a question of when. Is it gonna be for the hard courts [in North America]? Is it gonna be for the indoors?
