{"id":2532,"date":"2026-07-24T17:00:49","date_gmt":"2026-07-24T17:00:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=2532"},"modified":"2026-07-24T17:00:49","modified_gmt":"2026-07-24T17:00:49","slug":"carlos-alcaraz-sent-clear-message-about-his-injury-comeback-by-former-british-no-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=2532","title":{"rendered":"Carlos Alcaraz sent clear message about his injury comeback by former British No 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former British No 1 Kyle Edmund has told Tennis365 that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/carlos-alcaraz\">Carlos Alcaraz<\/a> \u201ccan\u2019t have any doubts\u201d when he returns from his wrist injury.<\/p>\n<p>In April, Alcaraz sustained a right wrist injury in his first round Barcelona Open win against Otto Virtanen, and he has not played since, having missed the rest of the clay season and the grass-court swing.<\/p>\n<p>Alcaraz is reportedly aiming to make his comeback at the Masters 1000 tournament in Cincinnati next month ahead of the 2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/us-open\">US Open<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The 23-year-old Spaniard holds a 22-3 record in 2026, having won his first 16 matches of the season \u2014 a run that featured titles at the Australian Open and the Qatar Open.<\/p>\n<p>In an exclusive interview with Tennis365, Edmund assessed that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/carlos-alcaraz\">Alcaraz<\/a>\u2018s injury \u201cseems significant\u201d and revealed he \u201cloves watching\u201d the seven-time major winner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlcaraz, it doesn\u2019t feel like a minor injury; it seems significant because he\u2019s had to take serious time out and miss Grand Slams,\u201d said the former world No 14.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you\u2019re missing Grand Slams, that\u2019s a proper thing. I love watching him, so I would like him back. He\u2019s just got to be careful with the wrist.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know from speaking to people about wrist injuries, you\u2019ve got to make sure they\u2019re right when you come back. And there\u2019s a confidence thing to let go, as well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think publicly he\u2019s being quite reserved with it \u2013 rightfully so, it\u2019s his personal thing. I don\u2019t know what [the injury] is, in terms of what happened.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut he\u2019ll be back when he\u2019s ready, and the way he plays is so explosive and physical that he can\u2019t have any doubts in his head.
