{"id":2582,"date":"2026-08-03T15:00:50","date_gmt":"2026-08-03T15:00:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=2582"},"modified":"2026-08-03T15:00:50","modified_gmt":"2026-08-03T15:00:50","slug":"former-british-no-1-pinpoints-the-good-news-from-carlos-alcarazs-wrist-injury","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=2582","title":{"rendered":"Former British No 1 pinpoints the \u2018good news\u2019 from Carlos Alcaraz\u2019s wrist injury"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Greg Rusedski is feeling much more optimistic about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/carlos-alcaraz\">Carlos Alcaraz<\/a>\u2019s injury recovery after seeing the Spaniard\u2019s latest training video.<\/p>\n<p>Just under a month ago, the former British No 1 said he was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/greg-rusedski-deeply-concerned-for-carlos-alcaraz-after-watching-him-practice\">\u201cdeeply concerned\u201d by footage the 23-year-old posted of him back on the court<\/a> as he makes his way back from a wrist injury.<\/p>\n<p>The seven-time major winner did not look like he was ready to be back on the ATP Tour but ahead of his scheduled return at the Cincinnati Masters (13-23 August), Rusedski has since struck a more buoyant tone.<\/p>\n<p>On the latest episode of <a rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ZHqUz2CR8B0\" target=\"_blank\">Off Court with Greg Rusedski<\/a>, the former US Open finalist said, \u201cHe seems to be hitting the ball well, but it looked like he wasn\u2019t hitting with the highest level players.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was more juniors and younger players. Time will tell, but much better signs. You can use that time to get better physically, but you still need to get the reps on court.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo a lot more optimistic about him coming back, but still, we got to see what happens. We\u2019ve seen what\u2019s happened with Jack Draper. You know, a lot of starts. So fingers crossed, Carlos is back. We need him in the game.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alcaraz hasn\u2019t played on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/atp-tour\">ATP Tour<\/a> since injuring his wrist back in mid-April at the Barcelona Open.<\/p>\n<p>It remains to be seen how successful the former world No 1 will be on his return to the sport, especially as he attempts to defend his US Open title in a few weeks.\u00a0And Rusedski thinks just having him back is what the sport desperately needs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCarlos is the biggest star in men\u2019s tennis at the moment, the most explosive player.
