Andy Murray<\/a> has joined a growing contingent of tennis greats calling for service lets to be scrapped from the sport.<\/p>\n

Since hanging up his racket in the summer of 2024, Murray<\/a> has been able to pursue other interests outside of tennis.<\/p>\n

One such hobby is golf, while he has also tried his hand at coaching Novak Djokovic, where they had a short stint together in early 2025, and more recently Jack Draper.<\/p>\n

Less than a year before the Scot retired, Murray announced the launch of his own Padel franchise<\/a> called \u2018Team AD\/vantage\u2019 and since then he has invested in the business, Game4Padel, too.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 39-year-old has recently been filmed playing the fast-growing sport, which combines some elements of squash and tennis and includes walls, and was asked about what tweaks he would make to Padel.<\/p>\n

The three-time major winner\u00a0told LTA Padel, \u201cI would probably get rid of a let on serves. Same thing with tennis, don\u2019t like it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Murray is not the only tennis icon to say this. Indeed, at this year\u2019s Wimbledon, Martina Navratilova<\/a> echoed similar sentiments.<\/p>\n

During Karolina Muchova\u2019s quarter-final victory over Naomi Osaka, the 18-time Grand Slam women\u2019s singles winner described the service let cord rule as \u201cuseless\u201d.<\/p>\n

She said on BBC One, \u201cDo away with that let cord, you know I talk about it all the time. Nobody\u2019s moving forward on that; get rid of it, it\u2019s useless!<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, play the let, play the ball, it\u2019s a live ball. Every once in a while, you get that dribbler that would be an ace, but that happens once every three matches, so just play. Most of the lets are just a little nick, keep playing, speed up the game.\u201d<\/p>\n

And seven-time major winner, John McEnroe<\/a>, believes if the point carried on from a service let, it would be more exciting.<\/p>\n

He said on BBC Radio 5 Live in 2025, \u201cPlay lets, I would play lets. I think that is more exciting, but the top players would not want it because it adds an element of uncertainty and luck. That is why I don\u2019t think you will see it, but I would like to see it.\u201d<\/p>\n

It seems, for the time being, though, service lets are here to stay.<\/p>\n
