The 146th edition of the US Open began on Sunday 30 August, and the hard-court Grand Slam will conclude with the men\u2019s singles final on Sunday 13 August.<\/p>\n
The US Open, which is the last event of the North American summer hard-court season, is staged at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York City.<\/p>\n

Add us as a preferred source on Google to your favourites list<\/a> for tennis coverage you can trust.<\/strong><\/p>\n Casper Ruud, a three-time Grand Slam finalist and former world No 2, has become the 12th man and 21st player overall to withdraw from the US Open.<\/p>\n The 27-year-old Norwegian pulled out shortly after play began on Sunday due to a back injury that forced him to retire in his opening match at the Cincinnati Masters.<\/p>\n Ruud, who was a runner-up to Alcaraz at the 2022 US Open, confirmed his withdrawal on Instagram.<\/p>\n \u201cUnfortunately, my back hasn\u2019t healed as quickly as we had hoped,\u201d Ruud wrote.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve been optimistic that I would recover in time, but my team and I have decided that we need to think long term and give my body the time it needs.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m very sad to announce that I have to withdraw from this year\u2019s US Open singles event. It\u2019s never easy to miss a Grand Slam, but I know this is the right decision.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ll take the time I need to recover properly and come back stronger.
