{"id":2733,"date":"2026-09-03T13:34:58","date_gmt":"2026-09-03T13:34:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=2733"},"modified":"2026-09-03T13:34:58","modified_gmt":"2026-09-03T13:34:58","slug":"greg-rusedski-issues-alex-eala-predictions-as-he-addresses-potential-iva-jovic-coco-gauff-matches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=2733","title":{"rendered":"Greg Rusedski issues Alex Eala predictions as he addresses potential Iva Jovic, Coco Gauff matches"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former world No 4 Greg Rusedski has made some predictions about Alex Eala at the 2026 US Open as he analysed the Filipina\u2019s potential route through the draw.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/alex-eala\">Eala<\/a> cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 triumph against world No 122 Mary Stoiana in her first round match at the US Open on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The No 17 seed will face world No 46 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/us-open\/alex-ealas-second-round-opponent-us-open-outspoken-oleksandra-oliynykova-facial-tattoos\">Oleksandra Oliynykova<\/a> in the second round in Louis Armstrong Stadium on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>If Eala wins, she could meet 14th seed Iva Jovic in the third round, while fourth seed Coco Gauff is a potential fourth round opponent.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on his <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=4wSEq2rTa0I\" target=\"_blank\">Off Court With Greg Rusedski<\/a> podcast, Rusedski looked ahead to a potential third round meeting between Eala and Jovic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s going to be a night session match if it happens \u2014 no question about it. It\u2019s going to be on the Arthur Ashe stadium.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd it\u2019ll be interesting to see where the crowd goes on that one, because Eala mania continues. She deserves it. I think she cuts through three and three (6-3, 6-3), and continues the roll.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd we\u2019ll probably get that Jovic-Eala match in the third round \u2014 which will be a real test for her \u2014 but I think she comes through that, and we get the fourth round we\u2019ve all been talking about: Coco Gauff versus Eala\u2026 Arthur Ashe stadium, night session.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut we don\u2019t get ahead of ourselves too soon, but I think she does get through today pretty comfortably.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Eala\u2019s popularity, Rusedski said: \u201cI mean, she\u2019s 18 in the world. First time she\u2019s seeded at a major. She said it feels different being out there as a seeded player, the serve looked a lot better.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd she\u2019s just so likeable. She has it, as I say all the time, she\u2019s just got that personality. She\u2019s so mature. She knows what she wants. She\u2019s driven. She wants to get to the top of the women\u2019s game, and she is wonderful for our sport.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not only us talking about it, it\u2019s the whole world in tennis talking about her, every single country around the world is excited about her. It doesn\u2019t matter where she plays.
