Elena Rybakina has revealed that no players have offered her any support over the ban of her controversial coach Stefano Vukov.<\/p>\n
It was revealed at the start of the year that the WTA had provisionally suspended Vukov pending an investigation into a breach of their code of conduct.<\/p>\n
This came following Rybakina<\/a>\u2018s announcement that Vukov would re-join her team just months after parting ways with the Croatian prior to last year\u2019s US Open. The Russian-born Kazakh was coached by Vukov from February 2019 to August 2024.<\/p>\n The WTA confirmed last week that Vukov will remain suspended from coaching Rybakina in an official capacity, with The Athletic reporting it is a one-year ban.<\/p>\n In a statement, the WTA said: \u201cThe WTA confirms that the independent investigation into a potential breach of the WTA Code of Conduct by Stefano Vukov has concluded.<\/p>\n \u201cFollowing this process, the suspension remains in place. To protect the confidentiality and integrity of the investigation and its findings, the WTA will not provide further details.<\/p>\n \u201cWe remain committed to ensuring that all matters are handled in a fair and objective manner in accordance with the WTA Code of Conduct.\u201d<\/p>\n The Athletic has also reported shocking details of the \u201cmental abuse\u201d Rybakina was subjected to from Vukov and revealed the pair\u2019s relationship was described as \u201ctoxic\u201d by the WTA\u2019s chief executive Portia Archer.<\/p>\n Coco Gauff on Elena Rybakina, Stefano Vukov saga: \u2018I know she doesn\u2019t like the decision\u2019<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n Elena Rybakina\u2019s coach Stefano Vukov created a \u2018toxic environment\u2019 and \u2018should be banned for life\u2019<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n The 25-year-old has repeatedly said that Vukov \u201chas never mistreated\u201d her since the news of the investigation broke last month.<\/p>\n Rybakina is currently in action at the WTA 1000 tournament in Dubai, where she defeated world No 62 Moyuka Uchijima 6-3, 6-2 in her opening match.<\/p>\n Speaking in her press conference after her victory, Rybakina reiterated that she is not happy with the situation as she addressed whether any of her fellow players had reached out to her.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s very disappointing the way it\u2019s been handled, just the outcome,\u201d the world No 7 said.<\/p>\n \u201cNo one offered any support. Honestly don\u2019t need [it]. There is couple players I\u2019m in touch [with] more. But to say that I have very, very close friends on tour, it\u2019s I think not true just because we competing against each other. Everybody\u2019s surrounded by their teams.<\/p>\n \u201cI have a couple of good friends, let\u2019s say. But again, it\u2019s all depends on time, how much you can spend outside or not.\u201d<\/p>\n The 2022 Wimbledon winner added: \u201cI need to focus on my tournament. It\u2019s what I\u2019m trying to do.
