{"id":439,"date":"2025-05-11T15:08:47","date_gmt":"2025-05-11T15:08:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=439"},"modified":"2025-05-11T15:08:47","modified_gmt":"2025-05-11T15:08:47","slug":"watch-arthur-fils-and-stefanos-tsitsipas-in-tense-italian-open-argument-as-umpire-steps-in","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=439","title":{"rendered":"WATCH:\u00a0Arthur Fils and Stefanos Tsitsipas in tense Italian Open argument as umpire steps in"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Arthur Fils has shed light on the tense conversation he and\u00a0Stefanos Tsitsipas engaged in following the pair\u2019s third round encounter at the 2025 Italian Open.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/arthur-fils\">Fils<\/a> battled to a 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 victory over Tsitsipas, the world No 19, in a\u00a0pulsating contest at the Foro Italico.<\/p>\n<p>The world No 14 fought back from a set and 3-4, 15-30 down to improve his record against Tsitsipas to 4-0.<\/p>\n<p>With Tsitsipas serving at 3-3, 30-15 in the second set, the Greek won the point by hitting Fils on the body\u00a0as he went straight down the middle of the court with a backhand.<\/p>\n<p>After Fils converted match point, there was a lengthy and animated exchange between the players at the net, with chair umpire Greg Allensworth stepping in.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p>All sorted in the end<\/p>\n<p>A little bit of tension after the match as Tsitsipas tagged Fils in the second set <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/IBI25?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#IBI25<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/tkL90QJ00p\">pic.twitter.com\/tkL90QJ00p<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Tennis TV (@TennisTV) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TennisTV\/status\/1921524310004375896?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 11, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Fils explained he had no issue with Tsitsipas\u2019 body shot while also revealing he used it as motivation to fuel his comeback.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI like him, he\u2019s a great guy, a great champion. It was a bit tight in the middle of the second set,\u201d the Frenchman said in his interview with Tennis TV.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe went for my body. I just needed to find a way to fight.\u2019 Yeah, it worked (smiles).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 20-year-old added: \u201cI told him at the net he was playing unbelievable in the first set.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was killing me with his forehand, his backhand, at the net. Serving very good. I could not do a lot of things but in the second set I started to find the rhythm and a way to fight and was happy to finish strong in the third.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you let him play, I think he is one of the best clay-court players. His forehand is a huge weapon.
