{"id":487,"date":"2025-05-21T12:52:59","date_gmt":"2025-05-21T12:52:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=487"},"modified":"2025-05-21T12:52:59","modified_gmt":"2025-05-21T12:52:59","slug":"emma-raducanu-makes-major-change-to-grass-court-schedule","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=487","title":{"rendered":"Emma Raducanu makes major change to grass-court schedule"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Emma Raducanu has signed up for the Berlin Open, signalling a major change in her grass-court schedule ahead of Wimbledon.<\/p>\n<p>The Brit has opted to skip the WTA 125 event in Nottingham, which is taking place the same week as the Berlin tournament \u2013 June 16-22.<\/p>\n<p>Other participants in Berlin include nine of the WTA\u2019s top 10, with only Iga Swiatek choosing to not play in the German capital.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/emma-raducanu\">Raducanu<\/a> will make her 2025 grass-court debut at the Queen\u2019s event the week prior to her newly added tournament, which will mark the first time in 50 years that a WTA event will take place in London.<\/p>\n<p>The world No 43 could also choose to play in Eastbourne or Bad Homburg during the week of June 23, but this will likely depend on her success in both Queen\u2019s and Berlin.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, Raducanu had a successful grass-court swing \u2013 making the semi-finals at the Nottingham Open (losing to Katie Boulter), the quarter-finals in Eastbourne (defeated by Daria Kasatkina), and the fourth round at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/category\/grand-slam\/wimbledon\">Wimbledon<\/a> (falling to Lulu Sun).<\/p>\n<p>Wimbledon has been the Brit\u2019s second most successful Grand Slam, with two fourth-round appearances (in 2021 and 2024).<\/p>\n<p>The 2021 US Open champion is looking to fill up her schedule, after an injury-riddled 2024 season, taking a late wildcard into the WTA event in Strasbourg after an early loss at the Italian Open.<\/p>\n<p>In her first match in Strasbourg, Raducanu ended a three-match losing streak against Australian Daria Kastaskina with an impressive 6-1, 6-3 victory.<\/p>\n<h3>Latest WTA News<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/emma-raducanus-priorities-right-place-chris-evert-add-to-game\">Emma Raducanu\u2019s \u2018priorities in right place\u2019 as former world No 1 reveals what she needs to add to her game<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/news\/danielle-collins-discusses-iga-swiatek-win-rome\">Danielle Collins claims she \u2018didn\u2019t get a ton of credit\u2019 for shock Iga Swiatek win<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m really proud of my performance,\u201d the Brit said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow I came out and I was really aggressive.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI also managed to maintain my focus in the second set when it was getting close and Daria was playing some great points when I was trying to serve the match out so I\u2019m really proud of today\u2019s performance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think I\u2019ve been building towards this. It\u2019s a great feeling because I think I had three great matches in Rome and the fourth I played an opponent who was better than me on the day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo kind of bring that level here, I\u2019m really proud. But I think as I spend more time on clay, I\u2019m starting to like it more and more.
