{"id":601,"date":"2025-06-13T07:33:26","date_gmt":"2025-06-13T07:33:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=601"},"modified":"2025-06-13T07:33:26","modified_gmt":"2025-06-13T07:33:26","slug":"what-emma-raducanu-and-katie-boulter-had-to-say-about-british-no-1-ranking","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=601","title":{"rendered":"What Emma Raducanu and Katie Boulter had to say about British No 1 ranking"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The British No 1 ranking will change hands when the WTA Rankings is updated next week as Emma Raducanu will replace Katie Boulter at the top.<\/p>\n<p>But despite the fight, the competition between Britain\u2019s top two women\u2019s players remains healthy and they have vowed to continue to support each other, although Boulter has told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/emma-raducanu\">Raducanu<\/a> \u201cit\u2019s kind of my turn\u201d to turn up the heat.<\/p>\n<p>Boulter had been Great Britain\u2019s top-ranked woman in the rankings since June 2023 when she took over from Raducanu following the 2021 US Open winner\u2019s two-year spell as No 1.<\/p>\n<p>But Boulter\u2019s early loss at the Queen\u2019s Club event, coupled with Raducanu\u2019s run to the quarter-final will result in them swapping places.<\/p>\n<p>Raducanu, who is projected to rise to No 36 after the tournament, stated: \u201cI wouldn\u2019t say it\u2019s the most important thing for me. I think having Katie in front, it was nice for me to have something to chase.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow I\u2019m sure she\u2019s going to enjoy that with me. The grass season is still young, and so is the rest of the season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut regardless, we have a healthy competition between us two. It\u2019s something that happens every single week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m very well aware that I lost 250 this week, because Nottingham is next week and the scheduling\u2019s been different. Of course I personally want to be getting my ranking moving in the right direction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m very happy for her to be British No 1. But at the same time, it\u2019s going to be fun for me to chase her now, and I think she\u2019s been doing that for a while.
