Jannik Sinner remains on course to break a 47-year-old Grand Slam record after easing past\u00a0Pedro Mart\u00ednez at Wimbledon.<\/p>\n
The N0. 1 seed strolled to a\u00a0 6-1, 6-3, 6-1 victory against\u00a0Mart\u00ednez who appeared to be struggling with a shoulder injury during the third-round match-up.<\/p>\n
Sinner<\/strong><\/a> though has been at his dominant best so far in the tournament, dropping just\u00a017 games in his three matches, and he could well break the record for the fewest games lost in a title-winning run.<\/p>\n The current holder of that record is Bjorn Borg who lost just 32 games during his 1978 French Open win.<\/p>\n As it stands, Sinner can lose 15 more games in a possible four remaining matches to match the feat of the Swede. On average, B0rg dropped 4.57 games per match while Sinner is currently losing\u00a05.66 per match.<\/p>\n Sinner has also surpassed Roger Federer in terms of the fewest games conceded on route to the round of 16. Federer previously held the record for the 19 he lost in 2004 but Sinner has cleared that with two to spare.<\/p>\n That stat was put to Sinner who was happy to be compared to the Swiss great.<\/p>\n \u201cI watched, of course, matches of him and the classics, the all-time classics.<\/p>\n \u201cThe tennis was for sure a little bit different in a way of more serve and volleys back in the days. The grass was different.<\/p>\n \u201cBut yeah, obviously I enjoyed it so much, watching Roger play. I never played against him in an official match. I\u2019m not looking on these kind of records. I know that everything can change very quickly from one round to the other. Yeah, but again, I\u2019m very happy to be in the next round.<\/p>\n The 23-year-old also said his first week in SW19 \u201ccould not have gone better\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cVery happy with the win but we saw that Martinez was struggling.
