{"id":70,"date":"2025-02-25T14:07:16","date_gmt":"2025-02-25T14:07:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=70"},"modified":"2025-02-25T14:07:16","modified_gmt":"2025-02-25T14:07:16","slug":"elena-rybakina-was-brainwashed-by-stefano-vukov-claims-former-wta-star","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=70","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Elena Rybakina was brainwashed by Stefano Vukov\u2019, claims former WTA star"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Eurosport star Barbara Schett has confirmed that Elena Rybakina and Stefano Vukov are in a \u201cprivate relationship\u201d as she accused the Croatian of \u201cbrainwashing\u201d the former Wimbledon champion.<\/p>\n<p>Vukov, who coached <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/elena-rybakina\">Rybakina<\/a> from 2019 until their initial split in August 2024, is currently serving a one-year suspension after being found guilty of breaching the WTA Tour\u2019s code of conduct.<\/p>\n<p>The suspension was confirmed earlier this month, after a report by <em>The Athletic<\/em> in January 2025 revealed he was under investigation by the WTA.<\/p>\n<p>Former world No 3 Rybakina had announced at the start of 2025 that Vukov would be rejoining her team, though the investigation \u2013 and now suspension \u2013 bars him from attaining tournament accreditation.<\/p>\n<p>Further reporting from <em>The Athletic <\/em>later\u00a0revealed that Vukov had subjected Rybakina to mental abuse and had reportedly bombarded her with texts following their initial split ahead of the 2024 US Open.<\/p>\n<p>Reports also claimed that the pair had shared a hotel room in Melbourne last month amid the Kazakh\u2019s Australian Open campaign, with the WTA ruling it was likely the two were in a romantic relationship.<\/p>\n<p>This has seemingly now been confirmed by former world No 7 Schett who, speaking to <a rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kicker.at\/doping-misshandlungen-und-geldsorgen-schett-ueber-den-zustand-des-tennissports-1093303\/artikel\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Kicker<\/em><\/a>, revealed she had spoken to Rybakina\u2019s former coach Goran Ivanisevic in the aftermath of their split.<\/p>\n<p>She said: \u201cIn my opinion, he [Vukov] subjected Elena to complete brainwashing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can see how he treats her and how he speaks to her. Things escalated at the 2024 US Open and the team and family tried to remove him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know that she has major ups and downs mentally, probably because of him. He definitely abused her mentally and that\u2019s why I think it\u2019s right that he was banned from the WTA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI spoke about the subject for a long time with Goran Ivanisevic. He said the problem is that they are in a private relationship.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVukov wants to sneak in and get his place on the team back. That is obviously a disaster. He has to get out of her life after everything he has done.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI heard in Australia what he shouted from the players\u2019 box. That is simply not acceptable.
