{"id":725,"date":"2025-07-14T09:59:59","date_gmt":"2025-07-14T09:59:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=725"},"modified":"2025-07-14T09:59:59","modified_gmt":"2025-07-14T09:59:59","slug":"brad-gilberts-low-blow-after-iga-swiateks-wimbledon-title-run-called-out-by-poles-physio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=725","title":{"rendered":"Brad Gilbert\u2019s \u2018low\u2019 blow after Iga Swiatek\u2019s Wimbledon title run called out by Pole\u2019s physio"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Renowned coach Brad Gilbert has come under fire over his social media post about Iga Swiatek\u2019s Wimbledon title run following her emphatic win over Amanda Anisimova in the final.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/iga-swiatek\">Swiatek<\/a> started the grass-court Grand Slam as the eighth seed and defeated the unseeded Paolina Kudermetova, Caty McNally and Danielle Collins to reach the fourth round where she took on the 23rd-seeded Clara Tauson.<\/p>\n<p>After beating the Dane in straight sets, she also saw off the 19th seeded Liudmila Samsonova in two sets before getting the better of the unseeded Belinda Bencic 6-2, 6-0 in the semi-final.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The four-time French Open champion t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/iga-swiatek-storms-to-first-wimbledon-title\">hen demolished the 13th-seeded Anisimova 6-0, 6-0<\/a> in the Championship match to become only the first woman in the Open Era to win Wimbledon without dropping a game as she took her Grand Slam tally to six.<\/p>\n<p>The great Steffi Graf was the first to achieve the astonishing feat as she beat Natasha Zvereva by the same scoreline in the 1988 French Open final.<\/p>\n<p>Gilbert, who mentored several big-name players including Andy Roddick, Andy Murray and Coco Gauff, took to X to share a \u201ccrazy\u201d stat about Swiatek\u2019s Wimbledon seven opponents at the All England Club.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCrazy Iga Pop tourney stat, the highest ranked player she has played this @Wimbledon Samsonova at 19 AA is ranked 12, not sure when last time someone won a slam without facing a top 10 player @tennistweetscom @SharkoTennis @tennistweetscom,\u201d the American wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Not long after that post, he shared his disappointment with the way the final turned out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s a very sad day for tennis on center court @Wimbledon got to feel for AA last time that happened 1988 @rolandgarros final was like 35 mins Graf vs Zverev,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>But Swiatek\u2019s physiotherapist Maciej Ryszczuk hit back at his original comment about the Pole not facing a top-10 player at the 2025 tournament.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c@bgtennisnation it\u2019s so low that even you can feel the bottom. Do your research better.
