{"id":728,"date":"2025-07-16T13:45:04","date_gmt":"2025-07-16T13:45:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=728"},"modified":"2025-07-16T13:45:04","modified_gmt":"2025-07-16T13:45:04","slug":"jannik-sinners-coach-in-retirement-decision-u-turn-as-2026-plans-revealed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=728","title":{"rendered":"Jannik Sinner\u2019s coach in retirement decision U-turn as 2026 plans revealed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jannik Sinner\u2019s coach\u00a0Darren Cahill is reportedly expected to delay his retirement and will still appear in the Italian\u2019s box in the 2026 season.<\/p>\n<p>Australia Cahill had expected to retire at the end of 2025 having joined Sinner\u2019s coaching team in July 2022 but a report from\u00a0Il Corriere della Sera says the 59-year-old has reversed that decision and will still be part of the Italian\u2019s coaching group next year.<\/p>\n<p>The Italian paper reported on Wednesday that Cahill\u2019s role will be reduced, most notably with him travelling less, but he will still be in the World No.1\u2019s box for the important events on the tennis calendar.<\/p>\n<p>Simone Vagnozzi remains Sinner\u2019s primary coach but Cahill has also been credited for a large part of the player\u2019s recent success.<\/p>\n<p>The player also still has to choose a\u00a0new athletic trainer and physiotherapist with Marco Panichi and Ulises Badio departing just before Wimbledon.<\/p>\n<p>The newly crowned Wimbledon champion was thought to be doing everything in his power to convince Cahill to stay and recently revealed the pair had a bet over their shared future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt depends on whether I want to tell the truth or not,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/jannik-sinner\"><strong>Sinner<\/strong><\/a> said in his press conference following the final.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had a bet before the final. I told him, \u2018If I win tomorrow, I can decide whether you stay until the end of the year or not.\u2019 Now the choice is mine!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve always looked for an honest person. Someone who gives me so much, not just on the tennis court, but in life outside of it, about how to live both in victories and disappointments. And he\u2019s very good. If I choose to stay with him, he probably won\u2019t travel so much anymore. That\u2019s normal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll have to see about that too. But I\u2019ve always said, back in Australia, that I\u2019d like to have him, because things are going well. Now we\u2019ll see. The season is still nothing, there are still so many tournaments to go, and I\u2019ll still see him a lot. You never know. The 23-year-old however suggested it is hard to top the first.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s hard to say. Because you always start from one, and my first was in Australia. Every Slam is very special, obviously it\u2019s also part of history here because it\u2019s the most prestigious tournament we have. And you can see in many things that here it\u2019s very different from the other Slams.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd so this was very special. In my opinion, what we overcame before this Slam was very special. All the talk about the 3-4 month break, it wasn\u2019t easy.
