{"id":836,"date":"2025-08-07T16:27:50","date_gmt":"2025-08-07T16:27:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=836"},"modified":"2025-08-07T16:27:50","modified_gmt":"2025-08-07T16:27:50","slug":"emma-raducanu-hoping-to-draw-on-new-coachs-bank-of-experience-after-18-year-rafael-nadal-collaboration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=836","title":{"rendered":"Emma Raducanu hoping to draw on new coach\u2019s \u2018bank of experience\u2019 after 18-year Rafael Nadal collaboration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Emma Raducanu says she is \u2018excited\u2019 to draw on Francisco Roig\u2019s \u2018bank of experience\u2019 as the pair begin their collaboration as player-coach at the upcoming Cincinnati Open.<\/p>\n<p>The pair announced the working relationship after a successful post-Wimbledon trial, with the upcoming Cincinnati Open being their first official event.<\/p>\n<p>Roig had previously worked with 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal from 2005 until the end of 2022, whilst also having helped Matteo Berrettini and Sloane Stephens since leaving the Spaniard.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirst impressions are it\u2019s going really well,\u201d analysed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/emma-raducanu\">Raducanu<\/a>, during an interview with the Guardian.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe did a few days after Wimbledon together and I was really happy with how it went. I\u2019m just so excited to have him on board, so much experience. I\u2019m really looking forward to continuing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think I can definitely improve on a lot of my shots, just the quality of them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think I\u2019ve been good at being creative, scrapping, playing the big points well, but I think the overall quality of my game needs to be better.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I see that when I play the really top players where I can\u2019t run and scrap, wait on them to miss.
