The Canadian Open concluded on the same day the Cincinnati Open started.<\/p>\n<p>The 28-year-old German is seeking his second title at the Masters tournament in Cincinnati after his 2021 triumph, while he was a semi-finalist in both 2023 and 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The hard courts of the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Cincinnati have long been measured as some of the fastest courts on the ATP Tour.<\/p>\n<p>Zverev, however, has declared that the surface used in Cincinnati is now a lot slower than it used to be.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCincinnati was a very fast tournament in the past, but it\u2019s become extremely slow now,\u201d he said in a press conference at this year\u2019s event.<\/p>\n<h2>Alexander Zverev News<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/atp-tour\/alexander-zverev-reveals-how-fatherhood-has-changed-him\"><strong>Alexander Zverev reveals how fatherhood has changed him as he uses Roger Federer as example for attitude change<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/alexander-zverev-latest-player-criticise-tennis-masters-1000-schedule\"><strong>Alexander Zverev urges ATP to \u2018find a solution\u2019 as he joins criticism of packed tennis schedule<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not sure what the reason behind this choice is, especially since in New York the courts will be very fast again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not a huge fan of this surface. I just hope to play good tennis and get as far as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After his win over Basavareddy, Zverev said: \u201cI requested [a night match], coming from Toronto, where it\u2019s a lot colder, I need some days getting used to the heat and conditions. I\u2019m happy with the win and happy with how I played.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Zverev also made a big statement about court speed in Cincinnati last year<\/h2>\n<p>During the 2024 Cincinnati Masters, Zverev made an interesting claim when asked if he feels more comfortable on faster courts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYeah, I mean I\u2019m playing [with] an old school racket still, I\u2019m playing [with] quite a heavy tennis racket still,\u201d he told Tennis Channel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean, some of the young guys don\u2019t do that anymore so they swing a lot faster than me. But when the ball comes with pace, I think a heavier racket helps you, so that\u2019s maybe part of the reason.
