{"id":872,"date":"2025-08-15T14:55:59","date_gmt":"2025-08-15T14:55:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=872"},"modified":"2025-08-15T14:55:59","modified_gmt":"2025-08-15T14:55:59","slug":"tennis-legend-claims-emma-raducanus-snipers-are-too-quick-to-criticise-ahead-of-us-open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tennisring.com\/?p=872","title":{"rendered":"Tennis legend claims Emma Raducanu\u2019s snipers are \u2018too quick to criticise\u2019 ahead of US Open"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Emma Raducanu is heading into the US Open with bolstered confidence after some impressive performances in recent weeks and now she has been backed to succeed by two British tennis legends ahead of her return to Flushing Meadows.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s US Open represents the fourth anniversary of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/emma-raducanu\">Raducanu\u2019s<\/a> incredible win in New York, as she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-features\/emma-raducanu-sponsorship-money-maria-sharapova\">shot to global prominence by coming through qualifying and winning her first Grand Slam title<\/a> at the age of 18 without dropping a set throughout the tournament.<\/p>\n<p>That iconic achievement propelled Raducanu onto a sporting platform that was hard to operate on, as she was still finding her feet on the WTA Tour and since that magical run, she has not reached a final at any level since then.<\/p>\n<p>Her impressive displays as she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/aryna-sabalenka-emma-raducanu-rankings-prediction-cincinnati-open\">pushed world No 1 Aryna Sabalenka close at Wimbledon and in the Cincinnati Open<\/a> suggested Raducanu is now emerging as a force in the game once again, with British wheelchair tennis legend backing the 22-year-old to shine as she returns to New York.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking exclusively to Tennis365 at a Play Your Way To Wimbledon event, two-time Paralympic gold medalist Reid suggested the version of Raducanu we are seeing now should be saluted as one of the rising stars of the game.<\/p>\n<h2>More Tennis News<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/who-is-alfie-hewett-inteview\">Grand Slam legend Alfie Hewett reveals \u2018best and worst thing\u2019 about his new rivalry<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/alfie-hewett-interview-tennis\">Tennis legend admits he \u2018feels like an imposter\u2019 after being propelled into the spotlight<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s really hard to fathom what she\u2019s experienced since winning the US Open,\u201d Reid told Tennis365.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s something that\u2019s probably at any age it will be difficult to deal with, never mind the age she won it at and all the attention she had on her all of a sudden.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou feel for her in that way and it has maybe taken her a bit of time to find her feet again and, you know, get comfortable in that spotlight, but\u00a0she\u2019s been in brilliant form recently and is looking good going into the US Open.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think if she hadn\u2019t had that win and at the US Open, then everybody in the country would be talking about how well she is doing, looking at the trajectory she has been on over the last few months.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut the expectations changed when she won a Slam.
