Boris Becker has been perplexed by the lack of hype Learner Tien is receiving for his stellar work on the ATP Tour this season.
The American star claimed his first title of the year at the Geneva Open, and he also reached the final of the Del Ray Open earlier this season.
He’s produced some impressive runs at the Australian Open and Indian Wells, both of which saw him reach the quarter finals of the illustrious events.
At the Canadian Open, meanwhile, he has confirmed another quarter final appearance by defeating Gael Monfils, Tommy Paul, Thiago Agustin Tirante to set up a last eight meeting with Daniel Merida.
After his performances in 2026, Becker believes Tien does not get the credit he deserves from experts in the game.

Taking to social media, Becker said: “For some reason Tien is flying under the radar with lots of experts… certainly NOT with me! He is the real deal, expect big things from him in the near future!”
Tien made his top 20 debut earlier this year and he currently sits at world No 17 in the ATP Tour rankings.
He sits close to the likes of Rafael Jodar, Arthur Fils, and Joao Fonseca, all of whom seem to receive more hype and excitement than the young American.
Tien has claimed two ATP titles in his career already, in Geneva and the Moselle Open. He also reached his first ATP 500 title in 2025, losing to Jannik Sinner at the China Open.
He has reached past the first round of every Grand Slam this season, making the quarter finals of the Australian Open, the third round of Roland Garros, and the second round of Wimbledon.
Tien will be hoping to continue that form at the US Open on home soil as he has never made it past the first round of the tournament in four appearances.
He has bested his best effort at the Canadian Open already, having only reached the fourth round previously.
With the Cincinnati Open coming up too, he will be hoping to continue improving upon his best results at Masters tournaments.
The star was knocked out of the second round of the Masters event last year on his debut, which you would expect him to build upon this year.
With Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner already confirmed to be out of the Cincinnati Open, Tien is one of the players who has the potential to produce a breakout performance and win his maiden Masters title, if he has not done so already at the Canadian Open.
